Faith For The Future

Have you ever been in a situation where you were at your wits end? Everything seemed to be hitting the ceiling at the same time and you didn’t know how to fix it?

Nowadays we rely on Google and Siri to help us out of situations that seem impossible. With a quick tap of our thumbs, we can find out how to nail our work presentation, cure our kiddos rash, and get an A+ on the test you forgot to study for.

We have tools at our disposal to prepare us for job interviews, starting a family, and finding the perfect home to buy. On a daily basis, we make our own choices and decisions every single day without a second thought.

This week’s #GirlBoss didn’t have any of these tools we use on a daily basis. In fact, she had almost nothing, and what she did have was about to be taken away from her.

Our #GirlBoss was widowed after her God-fearing husband passed away, leaving her to take care of her two sons all alone. After the death of her husband, the bill collectors started coming around threatening to take all she had left, her home.

She caught the ear of the Prophet Elisha who asked her how he could help. Our #GirlBoss told him all she had was a jar of oil. So Elisha directed her to borrow all the jars she could from her neighbors than to shut the door behind her inside her house and pour the oil into all the containers she gathered up. So she did as Elisha told her, jar after jar filled with oil. I’m sure our #GirlBoss and her sons were in awe of how far the oil was stretching. In fact, they filled up every single jar with the oil from her home. This allowed them to sell the oil and pay off the bill collector!

Our #GirlBoss had faith in God that He would take care of her and her family. She believed that the Prophet Elisha was speaking on behalf of God into her situation and time of need. Although what she was instructed to do didn’t make sense her faith in God was stronger than her doubts.

She was desperate and everything around her was crumbling down. She didn’t have Google or Siri to ask for instructions. She did, however, have faith in God who did not and would not fail her. Having unwavering faith like this is truly goals for a #GirlBoss. You can read the full story in 2 Kings 4:1-7 CSB

You see, we can search all we want for the proper tools, apps, and books to help answer the questions burning on our hearts. But the truth is we’ve replaced faith with Facebook recommendations. Instead of having faith in God’s plan for our life we’ve taken things into our own hands by making things happen even if they’re not at the right time.

A true #GirlBoss has faith strong enough to fall on her knees and trust God when it all hits the ceiling. Trusting in His plan, and His purpose even if it doesn’t make sense, even if it sounds crazy.

Let’s Pray…

Heavenly Father,

Thank you for loving me. Thank you for knowing what my future holds and taking care of each turn in the road. Forgive me for trying to take matters into my own hand and not having faith in the plans you have for me. Today I ask that you strengthen my faith in your purpose and will for my life. Today I let go of the need to control the outcome and the fear of what might happen next. Today I start fresh in trusting You have it all under control. Heavenly Father you are so good, and I put all my faith in you!

Amen.
